Facility Operations/Security: Game Day/Event Staff
Director, Tours & Experiences - Texas Rangers Baseball Club (Arlington, TX)

The director of tours and experiences is responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing and product development programs for the Tours & Experiences category of the Rangers Events department, and overseeing day-to-day operations for these programs. This position is responsible for the following duties personally or through subordinates:

Duties and responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategic marketing plans and sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services in the tours and experiences category.

  • Develops and manages sales/marketing operating budgets.

  • Plans and oversees Tours & Experiences advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media and direct mail, in correlation with the Texas Rangers marketing department(s).

  • Develops and recommends product positioning, packaging and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.

  • Achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to preset standards and industry and economic trends.

  • Ensures effective control of marketing results, and takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.

  • Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities.

  • Guides preparation of Rangers Events marketing activity reports and presents to executive management.

  • Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials and events, in correlation with the Texas Rangers marketing department(s).

  • Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.

  • Directs staffing, training and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and marketing programs.

  • Meets with key clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.

  • Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.

  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales and areas of proposed client base expansion.

  • Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness.

  • Directs product research and development.

  • Works alongside Rangers Events operations department to assure quality delivery of Globe Life Park tours route.

  • Guides large-scale clients in preparation of events by interpreting and explaining contract provisions, policies and procedures.

  • Responsible for communicating event details to all required internal and external contacts to ensure events are effectively coordinated to meet and exceed customer expectations.

  • Prepares cost estimates and monitors final billing.

  • Follows-up on all client requests, concerns, and problems.

  • Attends appropriate planning, organization and other event and facility meetings in support of tours & experiences operations.

  • Assists in annual budget preparation for department.

  • Prepares reports of monthly department activities for submission to the Vice President of Events.

  • Hires, trains and evaluates all event services staff.

  • Plans, organizes and assigns all day-to-day work assignments for Tours Manager.

  • Assists with employee development and coach’s department personnel to work to full potential.

  • Recognizes employees who meet or exceed expected levels of performance. Identifies corrective action procedure needs for employees whose performance or conduct does not meet required levels. Conduct performance appraisals.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing or business administration or equivalent number of years of experience

  • 3 - 5 years of experience with progressive management experience.

  • 2 – 4 years of experience with an events venue or sports team.
